Light study

Diese Fotos sind das Ergebnis einer Lichtstudie. Aufgrund von Social Distancing war es leider nicht mehr möglich, Menschen vor die Linse zu bekommen. Um in Übung zu bleiben, holte ich meine eher rudimentäre Lichtausrüstung von zu Hause heraus, die überhaupt nicht mit der Ausrüstung vergleichbar ist, mit der ich normalerweise arbeite und habe damit etwas herumgespielt. Ich habe versucht, eine dramatische Lichtstimmung zu erzeugen und einen knackigen und etwas skulpturalen Look zu erzielen. Das Ergebnis gefällt mir sehr gut. Es hat mir gezeigt, dass es manchmal hilfreich sein kann, wenn man Einschränkungen hat, um sich mehr auf bestimmte Aspekte zu konzentrieren. Trotz des Aufbaus mit nur einer Lampe anstelle des Aufbaus mit zwei Lampen, mit dem ich normalerweise arbeite, fehlt es diesen Aufnahmen an nichts. Ich habe sogar versucht, das Licht noch extra zu bündeln, indem ich den Spot teilweise mit einem dunklen Tuch abgedeckt habe. Und die Aufnahmen sind dadurch umso dramatischer ausgefallen.

Die Aufnahmen wurden mit einem Canon EF 85mm 1.4 Objektiv gemacht.

These photographs are the result of a light study. Due to social distancing I hadn’t been able to get people in front of my lens. To stay in practice I got out my very basic home light equipment, which is not at all comparable with the equipment I usually work with and had a go. I tried to create a dramatic light mood and achieve a crisp and somewhat sculptural look. I do quite like the result. It showed me that sometimes having limitations can help you to focus more on specific aspects. Despite the one lamp set-up instead of the the two lamp set-up I usually work with, these shots are not lacking anything at all. I even tried to bundle the light more by partly covering the spot with a dark cloth. And the shots have turned out all the more dramatic because of it.
